  Making A Difference

At A Young Age

Karl Duplantis, a lover of cats at the age of 5, collected money to purchase cat toys for the kitties at St. Francis. As you can see from the pictures he was greeted with great enthusiasm and warmth. It is not often that such a young man would understand enough about homeless animals to want to do something for them to make their life happier. Thank you Karl! You are a very caring child and that is what makes very caring adults.

When Nick Mahe' decided to volunteer at the Sanctuary during his week of Spring Break, he did not realize he would be taking on a personal crusade with our little Luke.  Luke has never really gotten along with children very well and when ever Nick would come to visit we would have to confine Luke so that Nick would not get bitten.  But since Nick spent the week with us, great headway as been made because of Nick's kindness and understanding.  Nick has taught him how to walk calmly on a leash and sit for a treat.  Thanks, Nick for changing Luke's attitude about children.

To Know Them is To Love Them

Eight years ago many of you gave us your support to begin construction at the Sanctuary.  The two pups pictured here, Oreo and Freckles, serve as a reminder of the many animals that have come through our gates.  It's a commitment we made together, St. Francis and Donor, to help as many homeless animals as we could.

With your help we can continue to put an end to the useless killing of puppies and kittens.  Oreo and Freckles were going to be shot by their owner because they were from an unwanted, unplanned litter of puppies.  One of our caregivers stepped in and saved their lives.  They are now in their new homes and very happy.  And again thank you for your loyalty and commitment.

Speak-Speak and Be Heard

When little Maybell was brought to the Sanctuary she was barely
bigger than the palm of your hand.  A woman who has supported the
Sanctuary for years found her and brought her to St. Francis. This sweet lady was drawn outside near a dumpster when she heard a     very hardy
bark for one so tiny.  Maybell thrived at the Sanctuary and was           only with
us for about four weeks before she went to her new home in California.
Your kindness makes Maybell's happiness possible. Thanks to you
she will sleep at the foot of a bed tonight and isn't that really just what
we all hope will happen for all of the homeless animals?

Enough Warmth To Endure

Yes, it has been a blistering cold winter. Tylertown even
had a couple of days in January when there was snow as well as an ice storm. Too, too cold for little 2 to 3 week old
puppies to spend the night out in the elements.
But people leave them out anyway, and they even drop them
in unfamiliar places, like these little guys,

Betty and Debbie

Edie

that were thrown
over our fence during the icy and snowy weather back in December. I guess there was enough warmth between them that they were able to endure the cold.
Because of your kindness and your
generosity we can show these unfortunate

creatures, what love is as they wait for their new

family to bring them home.

that have no one to help them,
